Maxi Dress {Tutorial}

My girls love to wear dresses and I love all the beautiful fabric that I keep seeing in my fabric store! So, I decided to make maxi dresses for my girls. So far, I have two done. One left to go! If you love them as much as I do, you'll want to make your own. It's easy {only a little time consuming} and the result is very satisfying. You could take these directions, and make yourself one - just adjust the measurements to fit yourself. {And you might need to tweak it a little near the end to make it a more custom fit.}

Sew the bottom of the bodice all the way around from one opening to the other, be sure to match the opening on both sides and sew it together. I sewed a reinforcement seam about an inch long across the opening just above the seam to make sure it won't get ripped open when my daughter is changing clothes.

No-Sew Ruffled Hipster {Tutorial}

Updated for my 31 Days of Home Economics series.

This is a fun, quick project that requires no sewing. The main character of this story is stitch witchery. I love using stitch witchery on loose hems when I'm in a pinch or for reinforcement on other projects. It's a handy little tool. But for this project, it was perfect because it was impossible to add ruffles by sewing machine. Enter Stitch Witchery. You can find a full tutorial here for more details, but you will get the gist of the idea in the pics below. Have fun!

This is part of my 31 Days of Home Economics series. You can find the whole series at the tab above {Home Economics}.

Bow Ties for Baby & Toddler {Tutorial}

I belong to a Sunday School class that is full of women having babies. And it seems like most of the babies that have been born are boys. So, this mom of 3 girls had to get creative. I'm full of ideas for little girls, but boys?? I'm really having to think hard. It's been fun, though. I came up with this idea the other day and couldn't believe how easy it was to make these cute little bow ties complete with elastic so that it stays on easily hidden under a collared shirt. And just in time for Easter!

**UPDATED WITH NEW MEASUREMENTS** - For bigger boys, use the measurements in the post above. For babies and young toddlers, try these >> 1 - 4"x6", 1 - 3.5"x5", 1 - 2"x2.5"

If you don't have time to make these yourself, but really want one for that little man in your life, these will posted in my etsy shop My3Chickadees tomorrow morning! Please stop by for a great deal!

Another Turtleneck Makeover {A Ruffled Shirt Tutorial}

I had {sew} much fun yesterday making my pink ruffled t-shirt that I decided to make a white one today, only this time it's from turtleneck to v-neck. And I really like it! It is really just way too easy. So, here's the how-to in pictures. You may want to refer to yesterday's post for more detailed instructions.

Pin to Pinterest if you wish. If you make one, I'd love to see your design! I plan to make many of these for summer!

Turtleneck to Ruffled T-Shirt {Tutorial}

As I mentioned in this post, I love ruffled t-shirts! It's just that I don't see many of them in the store that I like. I met up with a friend today and we were talking about how we love t-shirts, but they aren't long enough or cute enough. Then, just a couple hours later, I was at the mall with Hubs and we went in JCPenney. I just happened to find a whole bunch of turtlenecks that were clearanced for $2 each, so I picked one up. I realized right off the bat that the quality was really nice and also that it was longer than a regular t-shirt. And then it struck me...for $2, I can attempt to make a ruffled t-shirt out of these. So, I bought two. I have to say, I love the finished result. And Hubs was very surprised at how nice it looks! {He was skeptical when I told him my plans.} Oh, and the thing about using a turtleneck - the 'after' neckline is modest and isn't low cut like most t-shirts! I love that!
Here's the How-To:

If you make your own, I'd love to see a pic!
